About

Established: 1904

The University of Leeds is a British Redbrick university located in the city of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. In 1904, a royal charter was granted to the University of Leeds by King Edward VII. It is one of the top 100 universities in the World (QS World University Rankings 2014) and one of the largest in the UK with over 33,000 students from over 145 different countries. The university provides students with an exceptional learning and teaching experience. The quality of academic staff, accommodation residences, facilities (including internationally acclaimed University libraries and sports facilities), student support services and the single-site campus, make Leeds one of the UK’s most exciting environments in which to live and study. From 2006 to present, the university has consistently been ranked second in the United Kingdom for the number of applications received, second only to the University of Manchester.  The University is a member of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities and the N8 Group for research collaboration.
