UK universities accept various English language qualifications. Here are the main tests and what you need to know.
International English Language Testing System
The most widely accepted English test for UK university admissions. Jointly owned by the British Council, IDP, and Cambridge.
Test of English as a Foreign Language
American-based test widely accepted by UK universities. Can be taken at test centers or at home.
Pearson Test of English Academic
Fully computer-based test with fast results (usually within 48 hours). Growing in acceptance.
Cambridge Assessment English
Certificate-based qualification. Once achieved, it never expires - unlike other tests.
